UV DTF Printing for Tumblers, Glass & Hard Surfaces
In short

UV DTF is a printing process that cures ink instantly with UV light onto a film, layering white ink, color and a clear gloss coat. The result is a glossy, slightly raised transfer that sticks to hard surfaces with pressure — no heat press needed. It is used for tumblers, glass, metal, plastic, wood and phone cases. Honest Advice

When it’s not the right choice

UV DTF is not made for fabric — for shirts and hoodies use regular DTF printing. Textured, dusty or oily surfaces also reduce adhesion.

Common Questions

UV DTF FAQ

What is UV DTF printing?

UV DTF prints white, color and clear gloss layers onto a film and cures them instantly with UV light. The finished transfer sticks to hard surfaces with pressure, leaving a glossy, slightly raised, full-color design without any heat press.

For the longest life, hand washing is recommended for items with UV DTF transfers. Dishwashers combine heat, harsh detergent and long exposure to water, which can shorten the life of any applied decoration.

No. UV DTF is designed for hard surfaces. For shirts, hoodies and other fabrics, regular DTF printing is the right process because it is heat-pressed into the fibers and stays flexible.

A vinyl decal is cut from solid-color vinyl, so each color is a separate layer. UV DTF is printed, so it can include full color, gradients and fine detail in a single glossy transfer.
