Sublimation dyes your design into polyester fabric and specially coated items, so the color becomes part of the material — vivid, permanent and with nothing to feel on the surface.
Sublimation printing uses heat to turn special ink into a gas that bonds with polyester fibers or a polymer coating, so the design becomes part of the material instead of sitting on top. It produces vivid, permanent, full-color prints with no texture. It works on white or light polyester apparel and sublimation-coated mugs, tumblers and gifts. Crafty Media does sublimation in-house in Westlake, FL.
Your artwork or photo is prepared and printed mirror-image with sublimation ink.
The polyester garment or coated item is cleaned and positioned.
Heat and pressure turn the ink into a gas that bonds permanently with the material.
The piece cools, the paper is removed, and the print is inspected.
Sublimation does not work on 100% cotton or on dark garments, because the ink dyes the fabric rather than covering it. For cotton or dark shirts, DTF printing is the right choice.

Not directly. Sublimation needs polyester (or a polyester coating) to bond with, and it dyes the fabric rather than covering it, so it only shows on white or light colors. For cotton or dark shirts, DTF printing is the better option.
Sublimation doesn’t crack or peel because there is no layer on top of the fabric. Like any dyed fabric it can fade over long sun exposure, but in normal washing it holds up very well.
